Visit a delightful Northern Virginia, family-operated winery that emphasizes friendliness, miracles and angels.

Joe and Mary Ann Cunningham opened Miracle Valley Vineyard in the summer of 2007 on 50-acres of farmland. The winery on Little Cobbler Mountain plateau is located in Delaplane, Virginia. Miracle Valley is a family-operated winery and offers a wonderful day trip into the countryside. A long lane leads between vineyards to the tasting room and winery.

Origins of Miracle Valley Name: Vineyard Success

Travelers to Miracle Valley Vineyard may wonder about the name Miracle Valley and this intrigue adds to the experience while visiting the winery. The name Miracle Valley was chosen as a result of believing that every successful year in the vineyards was a miracle. While at the winery, notice the numerous angels displayed that add a pleasant, peaceful ambiance to the tasting room.

Renovated 1880's House: Winery Tasting Room

The tasting room is in a renovated house. The Cunninghams estimate the original house to have been built in the 1880’s. The first floor is divided into two rooms with a stairway separating the two rooms. The first room is the tasting room with a golden oak tasting counter. Windows overlook the balcony. A stained glass angel at a window is a decorative addition. The adjacent room with a stone fireplace is a good place to enjoy a glass of wine. Comfortable chairs and small tables are available. Outside in front of the tasting room, wrought iron chairs and tables are also available.

Miracle Valley Vineyard: Vineyards and Wines

The Cunninghams and their family planted the first grapevines in 2004. Today grapes in the vineyards include Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Wines produced at Miracle Valley Vineyard include the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sweet Michelle, 2007 Chardonnay, 2007 Merlot and 2007 Reserve Chardonnay.

A Northern Virginia Winery: Encourages Picnic Baskets

A long, slate patio extends the length of the house and overlooks a pond. Equipped with tables and chairs the patio provides a lovely spot to sip a glass of wine. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. The patio overlooks a large expanse of land with a pond and trees in the distance.

Miracle Valley Vineyard offers many events for visitors. A sampling of events includes Live Music, Military Appreciation Day and the Miracle Valley August Anniversary Party. They post a list of winery events on their website.

Travelers looking for a restful, peaceful day should pack a picnic lunch and blanket. Plan to stay awhile and enjoy this country setting.
