Skyline Drive (105 mile drive) is a drive right through the mountains. There is absolutely no better place in Virginia to see the turning of the leaves. There is an admission to ride Sky Line Drive, but it offers many overlooks and activities along the way. If you prefer to waive a fee, try taking Blue Ridge Parkway, which is parallel with Sky Line Drive. There are still plenty of overlooks, but much fewer attractions during the drive.
